Saturday 5 May

Today we take a visit to the Victorian seaside resort of Southport.  Take a tram ride along the Grade II listed iron pier, the second longest in the country to the Pier Pavilion with its antique penny slot machines or visit Lord Street, with its Victorian canopies over interesting shops, cafés and restaurants.

Sunday 6 May

We travel to Settle to board the morning departure on the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway line.  Travel through 72 miles of unspoilt countryside enjoying breathtaking scenery. This journey is arguably the most scenic of any English railway as you pass through 14 tunnels and over 20 viaducts including the Ribblehead Viaduct with 24 arches standing 104 feet above the moor.  At Carlisle rejoin the coach for our onward journey to our hotel in Dumfries.

Monday 7 May
