Kent Spring Gardens

Bluebells at Hole Park

4* Bridgewood Manor Hotel, Chatham. Riverhill Gardens, Igtham Mote, Hole Park, Sissinghurst Castle Gardens & Hever Castle.

Wednesday 24 March

We depart the local area and travel to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, near Haywards heath. The visit will be certain to lift your spirits with a lovely spring display of new life and fresh shoots. Their primrose meadow is a delicate yellow carpet, whilst the daffodils are a welcome sight after the winter.

We then travel to the National Trust Igtham Mote a romantic moated manor house, described by David Starkey as 'one of the most beautiful and interesting of English country houses'. Built nearly 700 years ago, this house has seen many changes and been owned by Medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high society Victorians. The house is surrounded by peaceful gardens with an orchard, water features, lakes and woodland walks. Enjoy one of the estate walks, where you can discover the renowned ancient bluebell woodland in spring at Scathes Wood. We arrive at the 4* Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa in time for dinner.

Thursday 25 March

This morning we visit Hole Park has which is set in over 200 acres of superb classic parkland. The colourful gardens enjoy far reaching views over the hills, woods and fields of the picturesque Kentish Weald. Enjoy the wonderful carpet of bluebells, daffodils, camellias, wisteria, magnolia and other spring delights. This afternoon we visit Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. Heralded for its beauty and diversity, the garden at Sissinghurst is among the most famous gardens in England and is well worth a visit. Don’t miss the orchard, set within the gardens and framed by the moat, which will be brimming with daffodils and crocuses.

Friday 26 March

Today we visit Hever castle. Dating back to the 13th century, Hever Castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and Mother of Elizabeth I. The Castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Spring is a wonderful time to view the gardens as spectacular carpets of snowdrops, crocus and daffodils welcome visitors.
