This holiday takes us to the the majestic town of Mayrhofen and the Ziller valley in the heart of the Austrian Tyrol. With the backdrop of beautiful mountains, take a ride from Jenback to Seespits on the Achensee Steam Cog Railway, one of the oldest in the world, the railway dates back to 1889. Enjoy scenic cruises on both Lake Achen and Lake Zell. Visit the Tyrol capital city of Innisbruck with its famous 15th century golden roof, on the way back to the hotel we visit the Swarvoski Crystal Worlds to explore the 17 Chambers of Wonder displaying artwork from around the world inspired by crystals. The holiday wouldn't be complete without a visit to the highest waterfalls in Europe; Krimmel Falls, the impressive natural spectacle has a drop of 380 metres.

Sat 4 September

We depart the local area and take the short Channel crossing to Calais, continuing onwards to our overnight hotel in Saarbrucken, Germany.

Sun 5 September

After breakfast we spend the day travelling to Mayrhofen. We arrive late afternoon and check into the 4* Neue Post Hotel, Mayrhofen with time to refresh before dinner.

Mon 6 September

This morning we travel to Jenback, where we join the Achensee Steam Cog Railway for the journey up to Seespitz. This railway dates back to 1889 and the steam engines are some of the oldest in the world. The train winds its way up above the Inn valley to its destination, Lake Achen, the largest alpine lake in the Tyrol. We then board our coach for the short journey to the lakeside resort of Pertisau where we enjoy free time for lunch. After lunch we board a boat for a scenic cruise to the north of the lake before re-joining our coach for the return journey to the hotel.

Tue 7 September

After a leisurely breakfast we travel to the Tyrol capital city Innsbruck. You can choose to enjoy a horse and carriage ride through the streets of the old town, discover some of the town’s most important sites; the 15th century Golden roof designed as a royal box for the Emperor, The Hofgarten, The Column of Saint Anne and the Triumphal Arch. Or browse the many shops, cafés and restaurants. This afternoon we visit the Swarovski Crystal Worlds to explore the 17 Chambers of Wonder displaying artwork from around the world inspired by crystals.

Wed 8 September

We spend the day relaxing in our beautiful resort in stunning surroundings, framed by the majestic Zillertal Alps. You can enjoy the leisure facilities at our hotel and explore the local area.

Thu 9 September

This morning we travel to the Krimml Waterfalls and marvel at its impressive natural spectacle. The falls are Europe’s highest, with a drop of 380 metres, and the fifth largest in the world. Our journey then continues to the pretty town of Zell am See, nestled on the shores of lovley lake Zell. Here we enjoy a picturesque boat cruise before wandering through the medieval centre and along the lake shore.

After breakfast we depart Mayrhofen and travel to our overnight hotel in Germany.

We depart the hotel and return home via Eurotunnel.
