We stay at the 4* Langstone Quays Resort on Hayling Island. We visit Birdworld, enjoy a day trip to the Isle of Wight with a visit to Osborne House and spend time at leisure in Portsmouth, where you can visit the historic dockyard. Enjoy a visit to the Weald & Downland Museum, home to the Repair Shop, visit West Dean Gardens and take a ride along the Watercress Railway Line.

Monday 10 May

Departing the local area we make our way south with a stop at Birdworld on route. Birdworld has a whole range of different birds from Penguins to Flamingos to Parrots & Emus. Explore the many gardens and landscaped areas which weave throughout the aviaries and paddocks. We arrive at 4* Langstone Quays, Hayling Island resort in time for dinner.


Tuesday 11 May

This morning we board the ferry and travel to the Isle of Wight. We visit Osborne house which was the home of Queen Victoria & Prince Albert. Ornate furnishings and artefacts from The Royal Collection fill rooms and corridors where Victoria entertained heads of state, inventors, princes and princesses and ruled the vast British Empire.

Wednesday 12 May

After breakfast we travel to Portsmouth where we spend time at leisure.
Your can visit the historic dockyard and explore Henry VIII’s favourite ship Mary Rose, Nelson’s HMS Victory and Queen Victoria’s HMS Warrior. Visit Gunwharf Quays shopping centre and ascend to the top of the 170 metre Emirates Spinnaker Tower to see the views from miles around, and enjoy a coffee in the clouds.

Thursday 13 May

This morning we visit the Weald & Downland Living Museum, home to televisions The Repair Shop. Discover rescued rural homes and buildings set in a beautiful landscape in the South Downs National Park. Their collection tells the stories of the people who lived and worked in rural South East England over the last 1,000 years. With more than 50 buildings to explore from a replica Angolo-Saxon hall house to an Edwardian tin church. This afternoon we visit West Dean Gardens. Nestled at the foot of the South Downs, West Dean Gardens in West Sussex is one of the greatest restored gardens open to the public today. From surreal trees to the restored walled garden, West Dean Gardens proudly presents its rich creative and social heritage.

Friday 14 May

We depart The Langstone Quays Restort and travel to Alresford where we board the Watercress Line Railway. The railway was built as a mainline and was used to connect London with Southampton and the docks, so you will be experiencing the railway as most travellers would have done in the first 70 or so years of the railway’s existence. We return home late afternoon.
