We have an Overnight stay at the 3* Best Western Plus Craiglands Hotel before embarking on the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway journey on our way north to our base for 4 nights the 3* South Beach Hotel in Troon. From her we enjoy a day on the Isle of Arran including a visit to Brodick Castle. Back on the mainland we enjoy a visit to Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Culzean Castle and Mackintosh at the Willow Tea Rooms where we enjoy a guided tour and afternoon tea.

Sunday 8 May

We make our journey north with a stop for lunch on route arriving at our overnight hotel the 3* Best Western Plus Craiglands Hotel in time for dinner.


Monday 9 May

We travel to Settle to board the morning departure on the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway line. Travel through 72 miles of unspoilt countryside enjoying breath-taking scenery. This journey is arguably the most scenic of any English railway as you pass through 14 tunnels and over 20 viaducts including the Ribblehead Viaduct with 24 arches standing 104 feet above the moor. At Carlisle re-join the coach for our onward journey to the 3* South Beach Hotel in Troon.

Tuesday 10 May

Today, we board the ferry at Ardrossan and sail to Brodick on the Isle of Arran, known as 'Scotland in Miniature' where we visit Brodick Castle, set by the sea and overlooked by the majestic Goatfell Mountain. After free time for lunch in Brodick, we take a scenic drive around some of the island, before we board our ferry back to the mainland.

Wednesday 11 May

We visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum today. Set in 10 acres of countryside, the museum includes the famous Burns Cottage, where the poet was born and a modern museum housing the world's most important collection of his life and works. There is time for lunch here before we head to Culzean Castle, one of Scotland's best loved castles.

Thursday 12 May

This morning, we visit Largs, where we spend time at leisure - a visit to Nardini's, Scotland's most famous ice cream parlour is a must! In the afternoon, we make our way to Glasgow's famous Sauchiehall Street and Mackintosh at the Willow for an afternoon tea and guided tour of the tea rooms. The original Willow Tea Rooms building was initially opened by Miss Cranston and designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1903.

Friday 13 May

This morning we depart our hotel and with stops on route arrive home late afternoon.
