Afterwards we enjoy free time for lunch at the award-winning Barton Grange garden centre, as well as a spot of shopping! This afternoon we visit Dewlay Cheesemakers founded by George Kenyon in 1957. Renowned for being one of the leading cheeses in the UK, today Dewlays is recognised for producing the very finest quality Lancashire cheese, which we get to taste. Next stop is the multi-award-winning Lancaster Brewery, a leading regional brewer of craft beers. During our visit and tasting, we gain an insight into the day-to-day inner workings of a brewery.

Wednesday 18 August

Today, in the beating rural heart of Lancashire, we step back in time for a nostalgic trip on a steam train along the East Lancashire Railway. Our voyage takes us through the beautiful Lancashire countryside to the market town of Bury on an unforgettable journey. This afternoon, we enjoy a colourful visit to RHS Garden Bridgewater in Salford. This beautiful newly opened garden was designed by world famous landscape designer Tom Stuart-Smith. Amongst the highlights you can enjoy are an oasis of calm in the Paradise Garden, the Chinese inspired four season themed Streamside Garden and the fabulous Orchard Garden.

Thursday 19 August

This morning we embark on a spellbinding guided tour to discover the chilling story of the infamous Pendle Witches, the most famous witch trials in English history. The Pendle Witch Experience brings their history to life as we retrace their steps throughout this wild and unspoilt area which has changed little in 400 years. This afternoon we visit Samlesbury Hall - a fabulous half-timbered black and white medieval house built in 1325 as a family home. A costumed tour guide will bring hundreds of years of history to life in this bewitching visit.
