Arras & Lille Christmas Markets

Day 1

We depart the local area and make our way to Dover for the ferry to Calais. From Calais we make the short journey to our hotel, the Mercure Arras Centre Gare arriving mid-afternoon. This 4* hotel is located in the heart of the city opposite the TGV station, near the squares and Beffroi d'Arras, and close to the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Carrière Wellington. There are plenty of options for dinner in the surrounding area or if you prefer there is a restaurant in the hotel.

Day 2

Spend a festive day at leisure in Arras, where the stunning Grand Place is transformed into one of the largest and most enchanting Christmas markets in the Hauts-de-France region. Wander through a charming village of over 140 wooden chalets set against beautiful Flemish Baroque architecture, sparkling with thousands of lights and filled with the scent of seasonal treats. Discover an array of authentic gifts, regional crafts and delicious specialities-from foie gras, cheeses and chocolates to Alsatian sandwiches and tartiflette-while soaking up the magical atmosphere of fairground rides, Christmas trees and festive cheer. Warm up with mulled wine at the Winter Bar or Grizzly Bar or indulge in champagne and oysters for a touch of elegance. As evening approaches, don't miss the spectacular illumination of the Belfry, bringing the day to a memorable close.

Day 3

After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to Lille and soak up the magic of its beautifully illuminated Christmas celebrations. In the heart of the city, wander through the festive market at Place Rihour, charming stalls offer local crafts, seasonal treats and delicious regional specialities such as sweets and freshly made waffles. Enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere as you browse unique handmade gifts and decorations or simply take in the sparkle of the decorated streets. For a memorable experience, ride the impressive Ferris wheel in the Grand Place for panoramic views over the twinkling city, or embrace the festive fun with a spin on the traditional carousel or the charming, vintage Idéal Chenille.

Day 4

After breakfast we me make our way to Calais for the return ferry to Dover. Returning home late-afternoon.
