With the sea on one side and the white peaks of the Apuan Alps on the other, Viareggio is a fabulous base for our tour that takes in the very best of Tuscany and the stunning coastal scenery of the Italian Riviera. Our lovely, smart and elegant hotel boasts an ideal seafront location in Viareggio’s centre with plenty of bars, cafes and shops within easy walking distance. The President enjoys a warm family-run feel yet with high standard furnishings and décor. Highlights of the tour include a guided tour of the Cinque Terre fishing villages, only accessible via boat & train. A guided walking tour of the beautiful city of Lucca and a fabulous 4-course farmhouse lunch and wine tasting. Time at leisure in the resort town of Viareggio and a boat trip to the popular resort town of Portofino.

Day 1
With an early departure we make our way to Dover for the ferry to Calais, continuing through France to our overnight hotel, the 3* Ibis Mâcon Sud Crêches.
DDay 2
Departing our overnight hotel, we continue our journey through France crossing the Alps and into Italy, making our way along the stunning coast to our hotel for the next 5 nights the 4* Hotel President Viareggio.
D, BDay 3
We enjoy the day at leisure in Viareggio. Once a fishing village, Viareggio is now a thriving resort with a long beachside promenade and shops, with plenty to explore.
D, BDay 4
Today we travel to La Spezia where we meet our guide for a journey into the wonderful world of the Cinque Terre. These quaint fishing villages can only be visited by boat or train due to their location on the rugged coastline. We travel by boat to Monterosso via Porto Venere and Vernazza. Monterosso is the largest of the Cinque Terre villages & we enjoy time at leisure here before returning by train to Levanto.
D, BDay 5
This morning, we enjoy a 90-minute guided tour of beautiful Lucca, which gives us an introduction to one of the oldest cities in Tuscany. The elegant Old Town is still enclosed by its ancient city walls and is home to a maze of narrow cobbled streets, stunning churches, chapels and Lucca Cathedral. After our tour we have time at leisure to explore before making our way to a wonderful farmhouse in Montecarlo Fattoria il Poggio, for a fantastic 4-course lunch with wine!
D, BDay 6
We spend today visiting the most fashionable and stylish resorts of the Italian Riviera. We travel to the popular seaside resort of Rapallo, where we enjoy a boat ride along the coast to Portofino. Here, we spend time at leisure before returning by boat to Rapallo.
D, BDay 7
We say our farewells to the Italian Riviera and make our way north through the stunning Alps and passing Lake Geneva, to our overnight hotel the 3* Kyriad Djon Est - Mirande.
D, BDay 8
Departing our overnight hotel, we make our way through France to Calais where we catch the ferry back to Dover, returning home early evening.
